I think there is places where internet can be useful to children, but there is just so much out there. The internet is kind of like movies. Movies have ratings and that's how we know what is age appropriate for the child. Only problem with the internet is that we have no rating. I remember when I used to play Club Penguin. A internet platform game. There were some grown adults trying to play on there. Of course if you tried to type out inappropriate language you'd get kicked out. https://www.buzzfeed.com/abbyzinman/16-hilarious-club-penguin-bans-that-will-make-you-1tgvc3v6pl
Back in 1969, when Mr. Rogers defending public broadcasting for children, media was a lot more easily maintained as there were much less resources for distribution, ie. television. Now, the internet is such an open and fluid source of delivering and publishing material, it can seem less easy to manipulate the way information is channeled... Manipulation isn't always a good thing, but curation and mindful information exchange, I believe can be. Ethical concerns of the way children digest and receive information in this 21st century speed, I believe, is an extremely under-addressed topic.
